Multinational financial services corporation, American Express and the social media giant, Twitter have announced a partnership that will allow people to purchase items via a tweet.
The creation of this partnership is this latest in a line of revenue sources for the micro-blogging site as it looks towards possible floatation in 2014. The already popular 'promoted trend' — visible to many users as they look to see what topics are generating the most interest — has just seen an increase in price, with advertisers now paying up to $200,000 per day to be featured.
It is estimated that Twitter generated $350m in revenues in 2012 which could possibly double through 2013 via promoted tweets, trends and now this Amex partnership.
